The Peak Tutoring Method
Proactive tutoring versus Reactive tutoring
Reactive Tutoring
Reactive tutoring is what most people think of when talking about tutoring. The student arrives with their problems from class, and the tutor has to react immediately. There is no time for preparation, so the answer is just their first thought, though rarely a comprehensive explanation of the concepts behind the problem. This is usually one-to-one and expensive.Proactive tutoring
Proactive tutoring is when the experienced tutor leads the student. They know the syllabus and develop a plan to cover everything the student requires for that year (their Scope and Sequence). Time is then spent preparing quality lessons that explore the concepts from multiple angles for maximum understanding.Small group synergy
Our method allows multiple students, from various schools, to sit together and learn. These small groups of 2-5 students develop productive subcultures with an encouraging learning environment. Even if your child’s class experience includes social distractions, disruptive peers, or even poor teaching, Peak Tutoring overcomes these obstacles.
The Benefits
Confidence!
The benefits of Peak Tutoring for the student are numerous. Armed with our Scope and Sequence, we progress more quickly than schools. Our students go back to class already with understanding, and the boost in confidence is brilliant! They surprise themselves, their peers, and their teacher. In a couple of weeks, our students operate with new levels of curiosity and expectation.A library of summaries
Peak Tutoring supplies a tutoring book and weekly worksheets. These concise handouts incorporate material from the NSW syllabus, excellent examples, and formulas. Their layout is based on the “Cornell notes” system, emphasising revision skills. These quality notes build a library of summarised notes, enabling future revision of any topic.Skills upon skills
Peak Tutoring invests in every student as a learner. We do not simply download content. We aim to increase the students' ability to receive, process and retain all that they experience about God’s good creation from their study of Mathematics. We incorporate memory skills, revision techniques and exam strategies throughout the year. Year on year, all of these benefits compound in growth.
2026
Sessions and costs
The details for 2026 are currently being finalised and will be published ASAP. We do all we can to work with our families and their busy routines.
Peak Tutoring begins in week 2 of the school year to allow families to get through the busy 'back-to-school' period. Our sessions run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the younger age groups beginning from 4 pm.
The small-group structure of Peak Tutoring allows us to lower the prices per student. Fees are invoiced during each term.
WHAT MY clients SAY
“I cannot speak highly enough of Peak Tutoring. Matt provides lessons that are engaging and of an extremely high quality. I have seen huge growth and improvement in my son's results in such a short time. He now enjoys and looks forward to his Maths classes. I highly recommend Peak Tutoring.”

accelerated into yr 10 Advance course
"Matt was highly recommended by a friend. Matt engaged very well with my child and found a way to keep her engaged during the sessions. She went from a D to a B within 2 terms. Very impressive. I am always grateful for the time and effort Matt puts into tutoring my child, and I look forward to continuing tutoring during both of my Children’s schooling."
Tamryn, mum to a year 8 student
“I have often had trouble with maths, remembering the processes and knowing which techniques to use for which questions. Matt has been great at explaining maths in a simple way I understand. He is very patient and allows you to ask lots of questions. Matt has help me do much better in my maths assessments and exams.”
Lewis, a Year 10 student completing the 5 Std course
I cannot recommend Peak Tutoring enough.
We only joined Matt in term 4 as my son’s maths grades were slipping and he was having trouble grasping somwhiche concepts. After only one session, my son said he learnt more in one hour than he had all of the previous term. Each week, we have noticed lots of improvements, this was reflected in his yearly maths exam.
We will definitely be continuing with Peak Tutoring next year.
